The SLE and Elevation get a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-4 that cracks 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. You will get an automatic eight-speed transmission and an AFM. The engine is optional on the base trim.

The SLT, AT4, and Denali come with a 5.3-liter V-8 that makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. You can either choose an automatic six-speed or an eight-speed auto or a ten-speed auto transmission. It all depends on your preferred configuration. The engine comes as an option on SLE and Elevation trims.

A 6.2-liter V-8 produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with a ten-speed transmission and Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM).

We have a turbodiesel 3.0-liter V-6 that is optional to all trims except the base. It pairs with the automatic, ten-speed transmission.

Towing and Payload Capabilities

When choosing the 2021 Sierra 1500, a new improvement is made to maximize trailing and payload capacity. Among them is a turbo 2.7-liter inline-4 that now offers 2,300 pounds extra to attain 9,200 pounds of towing. The turbodiesel 3.0-liter adds 1,900 pounds to achieve a towing capacity of 9,300 pounds.

A base 285-horsepower V-6 can tow up to 7,900 pounds and a payload of 2,250 pounds. In 2021 Sierra 1500, the most substantial truck tows up to 11,800 pounds.
